The holidays mark the most wonderful time of the year for many reasons: The main two being you have an excuse to wear head-to-toe sparkle for a solid month and imbibe alcohol-spiked everything sans judgment. For beauty enthusiasts, however, the season of merriment brings with it major, limited-edition makeup—especially in the eye shadow department.

Embossed with everything from sequins (Dior 5 Couleurs Splendor Eyeshadow Palette) to tweed (Chanel Ombres Lamées De Chanel Eyeshadow Palette), these pans of couture-like color are almost too pretty to disturb. (Launches like this bring MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” to mind.) Sure, this designer eye candy comes at a price—$63 and $105, respectively—but both are certainly cheaper than the embroidered ball gowns or textural skirt suits that sashayed down the French houses’ Spring 2017 runways. And the offerings from Shu Uemura, Clé de Peau, and NARS are literally works of art care of collaborations with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, pop-artist Ashley Longshore, and French photographer Sarah Moon.

Here, we round up museum-level palettes for party-worthy eyes. Go ahead, we dare you to dip a brush in them.
