Moschino’s supermodel cast donned everything from boxes to bubble wrap to coat hangers, but John Galliano took the “bag lady” concept to new levels today at Maison Margiela. In addition to mesmerizing rainbow wings dreamed up by makeup guru Pat McGrath and waist-grazing strands of multicolored string made by Eugene Souleiman, the designer perched fluffy handbags atop two catwalker’s heads. While you might mistake them for tribal headdresses or a rather lush version of the bearskin hats worn by the British Royal Guard, the shoulder strap used to hold them in place on the runway gave the two-for-one accessory away. Next time you get caught in the rain without an umbrella, ditch the plastic hood and use your purse to save your blowout instead.
