Big things are happening for the Bad Gal. Not only did she drop her third and final Manolo Blahnik collab last month, but it was just announced that RiRi will show her fourth Fenty x Puma collection during NYFW in September. Oh, and last week in Paris, she took time from promoting her new flick,Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, to discuss education rights with French president Emmanuel Macron. (Casual.) Let’s just say she is wildly busy—and she’s about to be even busier. At long last, we have been blessed with a launch date for her highly anticipated (no exaggeration there, as evidenced by the multitude of fan accounts existing on Instagram) makeup line, Fenty Beauty. Mark your calendars for September 8, because shit is about to get real.
Since the news of the cosmetics range broke last April, details about it have largely been kept secret, save for a few rumors (holographic lipstick being a big one) that have stemmed mainly from RiRi and her makeup artist Mylah Morales via the @fentybeauty tag on red carpet grams. It all feels like one giant game of Clue...but with lipstick in lieu of rope or a candlestick.
We still don’t know what the products will be (they’ll be sold exclusively at Sephora and Harvey Nichols), but all signs point to highlighter and a matte red lipstick. What is confirmed: The slogan is “The New Generation of Beauty,” which can only mean there’s going to be options for every race and every gender—an inclusive element that the beauty space desperately needs. It’s likely that RiRi will start dropping some major bread crumbs for us in the weeks to come, but for those on serious pins and needles, there’s an option to enter your email address on the newly launched website. Expect Pat McGrath-level chaos, but amplified by about a thousand percent.
