Yesterday afternoon at Palais de Tokyo, Kym Ellery presented her Fall 2016 collection in a red-bathed den of a show space. The moody setting made it feel late at night, and it wouldn't have been offsetting to catch a wisp of smoke, or to sip on a Manhattan as Ellery's dark, corseted assembles made their way down the catwalk. The corset and the deconstruction and reappropriation of that garment were the starting points of the Australian's sultry collection. There were oversized burgundy, black, and, pink coats in snow fox fur, tied vest bustiers layered over black, flare-sleeved gowns, and in opposition, loose, slinky lurex velvet dresses. It was all quite romantic, and very seductive.
