Acne Studios has always had a close connection to the art world—from cofounder and creative director Jonny Johansson’s early vision of modeling the business after Warhol’s Factory, to the much-celebrated Acne Paper magazine (more exploratory and art-science-focused tome than a typical fashion rag), and now, a capsule collection of leather goods designed with multi-disciplinary American artist Jack Pierson.
The range—released today—includes smartly minimal soft leather pieces with art pulled from Pierson’s 1994 exhibition at Regen Projects in Los Angeles. Think simple white clutches reading “Here’s Your Money” and ocean blue renditions with “Again Again” scrawled across the front. They’re imbued with the cheeky, wry humor that Pierson—who came up with Nan Goldin and David Armstrong in Boston—has become known for. Pierson also created a new typeface for Acne—if you can get your hands on one of the 100 pouches being released for the collaboration, you can have it personalized with the artist’s own alphabet. It will also come with a second-edition copy of the Regen Projects exhibition catalogue, which has a numbered certification of approval signed by Pierson.
