The great West Coast migration is alive and well, with designers like Rebecca Minkoff, Tommy Hilfiger, Rachel Zoe, and Tom Ford all planning to show in L.A. come February. The latest brand to head for the land of sun and wellness? Maria Grazia Chiuri, who has just announced plans to show Dior Cruise in L.A. on May 11.
The news does’t come as a total surprise, as Dior has previously done destination shows for its cruise collections at places like Blenheim Palace outside of London and in Monaco at Pierre Cardin’s Bubble Palace. If you'll recall, Raf Simons also had plans to show Cruise 2016 in L.A., but decided to nix that idea and show at the French Riviera instead, where the Cannes Film Festival would take place two days later. Could this be Chiuri fulfilling Simmons' West Coast dream? In any event, by the looks of her quiet revamp of the house—namely, her feminist statement at her debut collection, and her new campaign, which is part of her Women Behind the Lens project—changes are certainly afoot.
