For the first time in the history of fashion, Raf Simons, who was recently appointed creative director of Calvin Klein, will be presenting his namesake menswear label in New York instead of his traditional showing in Paris. (It’s worth noting, however, that in June, Simons showed his Spring 2017 men’s collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence.) The Fall 2017 season for the Belgian designer is already a hotly anticipated one given his aforementioned debut for the storied American fashion house, so it’s no wonder the news, which was announced this morning by the CFDA, has the industry abuzz.
The show is slated to take place on February 1 during the third installment of NYFW: Men’s, where Simons will show alongside New York-based designers like Tim Coppens, Simon Miller, Joseph Abboud, and Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School, the latter of which has recently gone coed.
No doubt that Simons is a welcome addition to the New York menswear calendar, and will hopefully inject it with some much-needed energy.
