It’s no secret that, when it comes to the modeling industry, having a famous last name or famous parents goes a long way. Over the past year, the uptick in celebrity spawn appearing in front rows, ad campaigns, and on the runways has reached nearly comical proportions. And that’s not even counting established stars like Kendall Jenner, the Hadids, or Hailey Baldwin.
Chanel has become perhaps the biggest champion of this new patrimonial world order in modeling. For proof, look at Karl Lagerfeld’s past few eyewear campaigns for the French house, the latest of which (out today) stars Lottie Moss, the younger sister of Kate. She joins the ranks of Willow Smith and Lily Rose Depp, who have also appeared in Chanel sunglasses ads (and, in Depp's case, runway shows).
Moss recently walked Chanel’s Pre-Fall show in Paris, which featured a very celeb-heavy cast including Sofia Richie (daughter of Lionel), Ella Richards (granddaughter of Keith), Selah Marley (granddaughter of Bob), Sistine Stallone (daughter of Sylvester), Gray Sorrenti (daughter of Mario), and more.
These kids are suddenly landing on “It girl” lists everywhere, and there’s so much more where that came from. Iris Law (daughter of Jude) landed a new contract with Burberry beauty last month. And just a few days ago, Fay debuted its Spring 2017 campaign featuring Clara McGregor (daughter of Ewan) and Levi Dylan (that would be the grandson of Bob). The icing on the cake? The Fay ads were lensed by Mary McCartney, the other daughter of Paul and Linda. Looks like they’ve invaded the photography biz, too.
