Comme des Garçons is Partnering With Swedish Pop Artist ionnalee

In the pop world, where costumes really matter, we're surprised this didn't happen sooner

Comme des Garçons isn’t a brand that does what’s expected, which is why its new collaboration with Swedish pop star ionnalee (the solo project of Jonna Lee of iamamiwhoami) is both a surprise, but also kind of makes sense.

Today, a trailer was released for ionnalee’s new video, “Samaritan,” which is being called a “visual collaboration” with the fashion house. It’s not entirely clear what the full scope of that entails, but from the brief clip, one can clearly see that costumes were provided. Additionally, Dover Street Market’s London website has a space dedicated to the artist.

Apparently, “Samaritan” is about idolizing and worshipping female artists, which is appropriate because there are already comments on Youtube to the likes of “our goddess come to kill us," and because the CDG’s founder, Rei Kawakubo, has an avid fashion fan base that basically worships her.

The full video for “Samaritan” will debut March 10.
