Fashion fans who have a deep appreciation for the non-glamorous side of the industry—the hours of planning and sewing—are in luck, as yet another documentary about Dior is coming soon.
Dazed reports that a two-part documentary titled Inside Dior will air in England next week. Both episodes will focus on preparations for major events for the house—the first is Dior’s 70th anniversary. The second is Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection.
The second episode does sound a bit like the narrative of Dior and I, the 2015 documentary that focused on Raf Simons’ first-ever collection for the house. However, Inside Dior promises to also examine changing ideas of femininity as presented through the house. While “what is femininity in the modern age” isn’t the easiest question to succinctly answer in a televised documentary, posing the query in the first place could spark a delightful conversation. Hopefully the documentarians will also point out that while the house of Dior is built on feminine ideals, Chiuri is the first and only female creative director in its seven decade history.
Inside Dior will premiere on More 4 on February 9 at 9PM.
