Etro is joining the increasing lineup of brands that are holding co-ed runways.
WWD reports that the Italian brand will present both the men’s and women’s collections together on one runway beginning in September for the Spring 2018 season, joining the ranks of Kenzo, Gucci, and Bottega Veneta.
As WWD points out, what makes Etro’s announcement of a coed runway unique is that the men’s and women’s collections are designed by two different people (Kean Etro and Veronica Etro, respectively). While it makes more sense for a brand to show its collections at once—saving on the time and cost of two fashion shows—it’s understandable that two designers working separately might not develop cohesive collections, or want to split focus. But considering the Etros are family, perhaps they are more willing to work together, and share the spotlight.
Etro will show during Milan fashion week in September.
