Rising star in the modeling world Halima Aden is continuing to take the fashion world by storm, booking an editorial for the e-commerce platform The Modist. The images, which were shot by Taylor Tupy and also star Diana Silvers and Cayley King, feature an array of chic ensembles in an ultra feminine woodsy setting.
Consider this shoot further proof that Aden is a face to watch—after a whirlwind that found the 19-year-old going from becoming a Homecoming queen in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to working the runways of Milan in only a few short months, Aden received quite a bit of attention from the fashion media, mostly surrounding the fact that she was the first model to wear a hijab on the runway for big brands like Max Mara and Alberta Ferretti.
“It's been so overwhelming to be honest,” she told FU’s beauty director Amber Kallor last fashion month. “I'm so grateful that the media is pushing this very positive story because for a really long time I've seen so much negativity, especially about Muslims. I don’t want those people representing me because I'm not that and I know the majority [of Muslims] are not that.”
The Modist is a luxury online boutique that features high fashion for women who wish to dress modestly. In that regard, Aden is the perfect choice to appear in editorials and campaigns for the company, as a modern woman who has shown how to rock opulent looks on her own terms.
