H&M is teaming up with Erdem on its newest holiday designer collaboration, hitting stores November 2. The Swedish fast-fashion giant has also tapped Chanel favorite Baz Luhrmann—director of films like The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!, and Romeo + Juliet—to craft the visuals for the collection.
This isn’t the first time H&M has worked with a big-name director. Last November, Wes Anderson directed the retailer's annual holiday movie, starring Adrien Brody as a train conductor. It is, however, the first time Erdem Moralioglu will design menswear. (The Canadian and Turkish designer, who’s based in London, has been a major force in the London fashion community since he launched his womenswear label in 2005.)
"I am so happy to collaborate with H&M, and to explore my work on a whole new scale, including a menswear collection which I have never done before. It's also such a thrill to work with Baz Luhrmann, one of the most important storytellers of our time," the designer said in a statement.
A glimpse of the capsule can be seen on Erdem’s Instagram page, and from what we can gather thus far, there’s no shortage of romantic florals, which come in the form of dreamy, silky pajama-inspired sets and flowy dresses. There's also a luxe, faux leopard coat and a sharply tailored suit for the holiday party circuit.
Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s creative advisor, said that the capsule will be an “enchanting world full of beauty, delicacy and rich details. These are special pieces you will want to wear forever.” Sure—if you can get your hands on them.
Erdem x H&M will be available at select stores and online at hm.com starting November 2
