May is always a huge party month, with the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival, and destination Cruise shows from fashion’s biggest houses. That last one sees editors raking up frequent flyer miles, as major brands tend to choose locations with significant distances between them.
Today Vogue Runway reports that Louis Vuitton will head to Japan for its Cruise 2018 show, which will take place on May 14, giving editors only three days to jet there from L.A., where the Dior show will take place on the 11th.
Chanel has yet to announce a location, but its far-flung outing usually falls around the same time. 2015 even saw the French house’s show in Seoul scheduled on the same day as the Met Gala, meaning that celebrities and editors could only attend one. It was the Sophie’s Choice of the fashion industry. This year, the Gala takes place on the 1st, giving Chanel 10 free days to choose from.
