Fashion has more dragged-out, needlessly secretive sagas than a Hollywood producer who works exclusively with adapting teen book anthologies to film franchises.
The latest long-gestating hiring rumor is that Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Nicolas Ghesquière’s longtime right-hand woman, is heading to Chloé, taking over from Clare Waight Keller who left this season. The rumor originally began amid the original speculations of Waight Keller’s departure, but no replacement was announced when it was confirmed that Waight Keller would not be renewing her contract.
So…is Ramsay-Levi headed to Chloé? We still don’t know. But today, just before his Fall 2017 Louis Vuitton show, Ghesquière posted a very interesting caption on Instagram:
“30 shows and many more fantastic projects we experienced together @nramsaylevi. We spent an extraordinary part of our life sharing our passion. You are an inspirational, talented and generous woman and i [sic] am truly grateful for that." A heartfelt note, absolutely. But is it also a goodbye? The plot thickens.
We would say the clues are being dropped like breadcrumbs, but fashion isn’t really a fan of carbs (unless they're ironic). So far, Chloé has not made any announcements, and Ramsay-Levi herself hasn’t said anything either, so expect at least a few more days—or even weeks—of this nonsense.
