In line with its new see-now, buy-now strategy, Proenza Schouler has released the lookbook images for its Pre-Fall 2017 collection, which arrived online and in stores today. Shot by Ethan James Green, a former model who starred in Calvin Klein’s Tinder-inspired campaign for Fall 2015, and styled by Camilla Nickerson, the images feature three transgender models: Stav Strashko, Torraine Futurum, and Marcs Marcus.
According to The Cut, the brand’s co-founders, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough, tapped Green to cast girls he’s worked with previously. “The mix felt right and the overall message of diversity very contemporary,” the duo said. “The whole thing felt like the New York we know.”
Earlier this year, Proenza Schouler announced that it would be parting ways with New York to move its show to Paris and would be consolidating its ready-to-wear and pre-collections into one unified lineup, starting with Spring 2018, which will be shown this July. The lookbook released today was shot in Bushwick, and feels a little bit like an homage to the Big Apple, where the label was founded nearly 15 years ago.
At Marc Jacobs’ Fall show back in February, Strashko told us, “I love that you can see more and more trans models on the runway, which is great. It’s been building up through the years, but we’re here and we’re doing it.” Indeed they are. And here’s to more of that.
