Time has just released its list of the 100 most influential people of 2017. And like last year, it includes a mixture of political figures (Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, and Kim Jong Un), entertainers (Chance the Rapper, Viola Davis, and Sarah Paulson), and athletes (Colin Kaepernick, Lebron James, and Tom Brady). Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without a few fashion folks thrown in, and this year’s lineup includes Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, model Ashley Graham, and Calvin Klein's Raf Simons.
Jared Leto—of course—wrote Michele’s profile, calling the designer a “young artist” who has “set the sartorial world afore and ushered in a new renaissance for the infamous House of Gucci.” Graham’s homage was written by Tyra Banks, who called on everyone to bow down to the model and body activist, whom she calls beauty’s “new queen.” (For further proof of that, take a look at our shoot with her.)
A$AP Rocky, who dropped a track called “Please Don’t Touch My Raf” earlier this year, wrote a tribute to the new Calvin Klein designer. “I feel like Raf Simons is important for the culture based on the fact that he built a whole new religion around fashion,” the rapper wrote. “It’s to the point where kids, male and female alike, will get in full arguments over why he’s the greatest.”
Other notable individuals outside of fashion? Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins, The Night Of’s Riz Ahmed, and senator Elizabeth Warren, who was profiled by fellow badass Kamala Harris. The anecdote about them battling the big banks together in 2008 is a must-read.
