We’re in an era of everything-goes individualist fashion, causing some to dismiss trends as “dead.” Perhaps that’s true, or perhaps we just need to view trends on a smaller scale. There was an abundance of micro themes on the Fall runways, and the good news is many of them are actually wearable. Cases in point: puffer coats à la Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga, over-the-top shearlings like John Galliano’s for Margiela, and the rise of the high fashion hoodie. This season had attitude in spades, with designers like Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs making a case for goth chic, while others embraced the extravagance of the ’80s, or showcased one color from head to toe.
