Afsun Qureshi

Afsun Qureshi is a Canadian-born journalist, critic, writer, and editor. Toronto was home an age ago, and she now lives in London, England, having done lengthy stints in Montreal and Tokyo.  After getting a degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto, Afsun started off her working life as a speechwriter to the Finance Minister of Ontario, then as a policy wonk with the Institute for Research on Public Policy in Montreal (IRRP.org). She branched out into fashion and lifestyle when she pulled up sticks from Canada and moved to Tokyo back in 2002.  Since then, she has written, edited and editorialized extensively for Forbes.com, Elle.com, FT.com, CNN.com, The Sunday Times, The National Post, and the former Style.com.

For Afsun, fashion is never in isolation.  She is endlessly intrigued by the crossovers of fashion and art, politics and current events, chaos and calm. Her particular interests are emerging designers and the stories they tell via their collections. Afsun currently lives in London where she spends equal time on her work and hectoring her children into doing their homework.  She also has a very fluffy dog whom she is rather besotted with, as well as a long-suffering husband—less fluffy but rather adorable too.
