Why Super Long Hair Ruled the Red Carpet at the American Music Awards

Make Morticia Addams your beauty inspo

If the American Music Awards red carpet was any indication, we should all start investing in Viviscal supplements—stat. From Ariana Grande’s super-high, serpent-like pony to Taraji P. Henson’s bum-grazing tail, celebs are going long…really, really long. While it’s not exactly a new beauty phenomenon—A-listers like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and Ciara have been on the bandwagon for a while now—it seems as if everyone is feeling Morticia Addams center-parted, super sleek signature look. Joan Smalls, Julianne Hough, Zoe Saldana, Chrissy Teigen, Nicki Minaj, and Bebe Rexha were among those that went to great lengths last night in L.A. Even Jennifer Lopez arrived at the Latin Grammys earlier in the week with pin-straight strands past her breasts.

Sure, backstage pros have sworn off extensions for the past few seasons, opting for bobs, buzz cuts, and bangs instead, but Hollywood has yet to let it go. Will this beauty movement, which looks a lot like the celebrity version of sister wives (an aesthetic recently explored by Brooke Candy in her latest video), continue to grow? With cold winter weather on the way, we have a feeling these strands, which could double as a scarf, aren’t going away anytime soon.
