Get Your Cat-Eye in Shipshape at Chanel

Blue lids and berets were made for boats

Karl Lagerfeld docked La Pausa—a luxe ocean liner named after Coco Chanel’s villa in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin—at the Grand Palais in honor of his latest Cruise collection for the house. While the interior of Coco’s Mediterranean hideaway was furnished entirely in varying tones of beige and white, this collection provided plenty of pop. Who needs throw pillows when you can stretch yourself across a settee sporting nautical stripes, vivid maritime prints, and millennial pink?

Mane master Sam McKnight squashed silky and slightly tousled strands with a beret or the occasional straw boater—both styles that give the oversized floppy hat a run for its money as the vacation chapeau du jour. It was makeup artist Lucia Pica’s graphic wing, however, that inspired us to ditch the sunglasses and let our lids steal the spotlight for a change. Done in bold and brilliant azure, Bella Hadid has feeling head-to-toe blue as we drift steadily into summer.
