Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear
February 15, 2016
This was no mere show, this was an event. Tommy Hilfiger opened up a carnival titled “Tommy Pier” at Pier 16, with a Ferris wheel, games, and food. It’s even reopening tomorrow to the general public (at least, those who were lucky enough to snag tickets through the Hilfiger Club).
But the show itself was one night only. The collection was a “see-now, buy-now” collaboration with Gigi Hadid, building on what Hilfiger showed in February.
Despite Hadid’s name on this venture, the clothes still very much represent the DNA of the Hilfiger brand. The Americana preppy look, with a hint of sportiness, is here, with a nautical lean as well.
The times, they are a-changin’. Pre-see-now, buy-now, Tommy Hilfiger presented another Fall 2016 collection. The following recap previously accompanied that collection.

This morning, at The Park Avenue Armory, Lucky Blue Smith, Jourdan Dunn, and Caroline Vreeland sat front row at The Atlantic Tommy. This splashy, fully realized Hilfiger steamship was the setting for the all American’s show of ’40s-influenced, nautical-themed updated prep staples. A princess crown-wearing Gigi Hadid opened in an anchor-printed, naval striped silk dress, and riffs on army jackets (ankle-length in navy, with gold and sometimes bejeweled striped trim), a shearling collared biker, and plenty of peter pan-collared, sweetly puff sleeved pastel sweaters followed. All the big girls came out in force—Gigi, Lexi, Binx, Lineisy, and more—and the Michael Jackson soundtrack suggested a very peppy boat indeed.
