Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

February 12, 2018

Anna Sui’s Fall 2018 show opened with both Bella and Gigi Hadid, who looked like literal dolls as they twirled down the catwalk to Jim O’Rourke’s “You’ll Never Get To Heaven” in Sui’s groovy, bohemian wares and Twiggy-esque eyelashes. There’s always a distinct ‘60s feel to Sui’s offerings, and some looks resembled something seen on a Gucci catwalk. (Is Anna Sui secretly Alessandro Michele’s inspiration? Who knows.) Luxurious jacquards, sheer pussy bow blouses, and colorful tweeds lent the collection some opulence, but it was the models who were most fun to watch—the Hadid sisters and other famous faces such as Dilone, Kiki Willems, and Kaia Gerber practically danced down the brightly lit runway, pausing every so often to make eye contact with the audience, while throwback tracks like “One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)” by Marlene Dietrich and “What’s New Pussy Cat?” by Tom Jones played. All in all, a sweet moment during the chaos that is fashion week.
