Tome

Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

Paris

The boys from TOME joined the party and left NYFW to show their wares in the City of Lights for the first time in an intimate presentation at the Hotel Hoxton. According to Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin, after shooting the lookbook in New York, the duo re-styled the collection in an even more eclectic manner to fit the mode of the French capital. The aritst Tschabalala Self, whose work they had admired, influenced the montage mood of the collection. “Tschaba, as we call her, makes collages with fabrics that she finds in her environment and she came to our studio and started making them with fabrics we had,” explained the designers. The duo applied a collage approach to their own collection, looking to past seasons and reinventing them in different ways and different fabrics. The result was a cacophony of color, texture, and prints that somehow worked together nicely. Animal prints, jacquards, patent leathers, python, and plaids on smart outerwear, full skirts, turtleneck sweater vests. and wide-leg trousers were piled up and mixed together in a and modern way. Martin said the intimate setting gave them “the opportunity to tell the story about each piece and explain things you don’t see whizzing by on a runway.” A natural approach to a brand called TOME.
