Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

New York

BY Hilary Shepherd

February 8, 2018

Ulla Johnson’s show opened and closed with a rendition of The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?” performed live by Meshell Ndegeocello. Johnson’s runway was once again decorated with elaborate foliage, making her cast of models—all sporting braids and flecks of gold on their eyelids—appear as if they were emerging from a mystical forest of sorts. Cascading ruffles, voluminous sleeves, and earthy tones (inspired by David Hockney) permeated throughout, while bright pops of fuchsia and sparkly, ‘80s-inspired dresses added some unexpected but welcome sex appeal.
