• Ulla Johnson, a designer widely lauded for her bohemian aesthetic and nomadic sensibility, injected her Pre-Fall 2017 collection with a supple femininity.
Cases in point: the plush rabbit furs, the delicate frills, the eyelet lace, the frothy pinks, and most notably, the bows, seen on her new heeled sandal and wrapped sweetly around her model’s ponytail.
But the Ulla Johnson customer can rest easy knowing that Johnson’s signature ikat prints, chevron patterns, breezy silhouettes, and floral embroidery are all there.
Her denim was strong this season. A jean frock with a nipped-in waist stood out.
She’s also introduced a series of sturdy leather bags inspired by Peruvian saddlers. With that and the vibrant Pakistan-inspired embroidery, Johnson’s collection felt, as it so often does, global.
Her skin-tight ribbed knits are closet essentials, if not for their delicate feel, then for their extreme versatility.
