Season after season, Ulla Johnson seamlessly manages to teeter between sweet girlishness and sturdy utilitarianism. For Pre-Fall, a belted jumpsuit in soft khaki felt delicate layered over a billowy sleeved blouse, as did a denim apron dress—with pockets!—worn over a floral top with voluminous shoulders. Speaking of dresses, Johnson’s were short, short, short. South American saddle bags, Peruvian knits, and Shibori dots added to Johnson’s signature worldliness.
