Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear
October 1, 2016
“It is interesting to me that even though we live in a digital age with a free flow of information, there are many countries who want to close their boarders. I prefer to focus on openness and looking out into the world.”
This quote from Acne Studios creative director Jonny Johansson opened the Spring 2017 show notes.
With this concept in mind, his collection comprised decidedly down-to-earth clothes made of natural materials in neutral hues.
•Pulling inspiration from scarves and blankets, the airy tunics, wide-legged trousers, drop-crotch jumpsuits, and oversized, poncho-like sweaters had a comforting ease about them.
•These clothes could be lived in, traveled in, journeyed in.
•Bohemian paisley prints were a feature here.
•Brightly-hued knitwear reminiscent of Berber blankets, frayed edges, wood-motif heels on shoes, and moccasins furthered the collection’s earthy feel.
•Meanwhile, light denim pieces, like a large smock, trousers, and jackets nodded to the brand’s origins.
•This was a thoughtful collection, but it was also wearable and versatile—a lovely balance for the Acne customer.
