Ellery

Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear

Paris

BY Ashley W. Simpson

October 4, 2016

For Spring 2017, Kym Ellery looked to Japanese girl gangs.

She was inspired by “the rise of positive subculture.” This translated into cropped croc-embossed leather jackets in red and black, bulky, PVC zipper-embellished pants, mini dresses fit with daisy appliqués, and pin-straight skirting with Ellery’s signature ruffles at the bottom.

Loose, tailored pieces, with enlarged buttons and ruffles on the sleeves were oversized.

The core inspiration wasn’t obvious, but the individual pieces, especially the croc and waxed velvet options, were strong and calmly cool.
