Osman

Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear

London

BY Afsun Qureshi

September 19, 2016

Osman Yousefzada is my new hero.

Not just for turning out yet another beautiful, inspired collection, but for his casting.

The designer cast models over 40. Including Tiphaine de Lussy, the textile designer wife of artist Dinos Chapman.

Iconic models Kim Peer and Erika wall also walked, in coal-rimmed eyes, and these women owned each look.

“I work with so many real, fabulous women. So I wanted to do an ode to the Osman woman. Put them in a limelight. And mix it up,” said

Yousefzada.

That is a much needed move that the industry was crying out for. So mega kudos.

The clothes were dreamy and feminime.  You can see the handwork, even from a distance.

Impactful scarab detail, of which the designer explained, “It was an extension of the magnolia embroidery from Resort 2016. They are my hand drawings”

Some supremely covetable looks including a divine black and white dress with a delicate branch detail. That will surely make the red carpet.

A stunning red floral strapless gown is screaming for Lupita.

The daywear looks equally strong. Blue shirting with balloon sleeves, grey trousers with elegant strap details, clean suits that will become wardrobe anchors.

The collection was exciting and masterful but what really made it sing and dance were the models.

For that, we doff our cap to Osman.
