Simone Rocha is on quite a roll. After ending 2016 on a high note with her third win at the Fashion Awards (this year for British Womenswear Designer), she is kicking off 2017 with an even bigger bang: expanding into the American market with her first New York brick-and-mortar store, which is a big deal.
Although Rocha is carried in Dover Street Market, and has partnered with Top Shop and J Brand in the past, it is beyond impressive for a young British designer (she’s only 30!) to branch out this way, especially as Rocha is an independent brand—not backed by a luxury conglomerate. The store opening will coincide with the launch of a new limited edition book that features the work of “inspirational” collaborators and artists.
Rocha’s store will open at 71 Wooster Street in Soho on February 12, during New York fashion week. Meanwhile, she will present her Fall 2017 collection on February18, during London fashion week. She’s a busy bee, that one.
