Iris Apfel—bona fide style icon and advocate for buying anything you want if you like it and it fits you—has everything: emojis, a clothing line at Macy’s, a pop-up at Bergdorf, and a brand new book, so it was only a matter of time before the 96-year-old fashion legend got her very own Barbie doll.
Fashionista reports that Mattel officially unveiled Apfel’s doll today. She sports an emerald-green Gucci suit—the very same one she wears on the cover of her abovementioned tome—which is appropriate, as Alessandro Michele’s Gucci collections often leave us wondering if he raids, or perhaps lives inside, Apfel’s closets, what with their shared affinity for maximalism and giant frames. She’ll also reportedly be pairing up with the @barbiestyle Instagram account soon to tour Apfel’s favorite spots in the Big Apple—but don’t expect a follow back from the fashion maven. Remember, she doesn’t like social media and doesn’t care what you had for lunch or who you’re sleeping with.
There’s apparently a “Styled By” Iris Apfel Barbie coming this fall, and if we had to take a guess, it likely involves a pair larger-than-life spectacles and clunky, colorful bangles. In any event, it’s about damn time.
