As you already know from our trend almanac, Fall 2016 brought us a slew of noteworthy trends. We saw everything from puffer coats (OK, we know what you’re thinking, but Demna Gvasalia made a serious case for them at Balenciaga) and velvet everything to a major ’80s resurgence (ahem, Saint Laurent). Another trend we noticed? Monochromatic dressing. And while Akris‘ vibrant, fiery oranges or Faustine Steinmetz‘s stark-yellow wares were decidedly en pointe for the single-hued trend, we also saw an ample dosage of pastel moments, which is admittedly unusual given Fall’s traditional palette of darker hues. Washed-out, muted shades made an appearance everywhere from Balmain and Chanel to Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. And what better time to embrace candy-colored clothes—think baby blues, pale pinks, canary yellows, mint greens, and creamy beiges—than for Easter weekend? Whether you’re heading to Air Max Con by way of a daisy-covered Uber or doing the #EasterSundayBrunch thing (hopefully sporting one of Maison Michele’s new scrunchies), look to Fall 2016 for some yummy springtime inspiration.
