#TBT: Yves Saint Laurent, Rag & Bone, and Derek Lam

Revisit three of the best transitional looks to guide you into crisp autumn

Here we are again: The requisite transitional phase that occurs in the middle of soaking up the last sweet drops of a sun-drenched summer and prepping our wardrobes for another brisk, leaf-strewn autumn. Knits, leather, and crisp cotton are all closet staples for fall, but minimize the chunky factor on a knit sweater by shortening the the sleeves; throw on a thin leather jacket with a little denim romper; wear a white ruffled blouse with a pair of high-waisted pin-up style shorts, and voila, you’ve got the perfect assortment of seasonless pieces optimal for fickle August. From the Spring 2010 outings of Yves Saint Laurent and Rag & Bone to Derek Lam’s Palm Springs-inspired catwalk for Spring 2012, we revisit—and recreate—three looks from seasons past that are sure to seamlessly guide you into fall.
